LIME STABILIZATION

Joe's Dozer Service has vast experience when a contractor needs to improve Texas soil!  Many Texas construction sites encounter wet, weak, sub-standard soil.  Lime is an unparalleled aid in the  modification and stabilization of such soils beneath construction projects. Using lime can substantially increase the stability, impermeability, and load-bearing capacity of the subgrade. Joe's Dozer Service can improve fine-grained soils to  produce the following  benefits:

  • Plasticity reduction
  • Reduction in moisture-holding capacity (drying)
  • Swell reduction
  • Improved stability
  • The ability to construct a solid working platform

Thus, expediting construction and saving time and money.

FLY ASH STABILIZATION

If your site has sandy/silty soil, Joe's Dozer Service has experience using fly Ash to fix the foundation!  Given its cementitious properties, fly ash can dry down wet soils and increase the strength of each fill layer. It works best in sandy/silty soils, but can be very effective in lean clays as well.

Using fly ash to strengthen the top 8”-14” of subgrade can decrease the thickness of aggregate base and/or pavement needed to achieve the structural design strength of the pavement section.  It also a great option to stabilize existing aggregate base when performing parking lot repairs or upgrades.

Joe's Dozer Service relies on fly ash to stabilize bases or subgrades, to stabilize backfill to reduce lateral earth pressures and to stabilize embankments to improve slope stability, mainly in sandy/silty soils.

SOIL CONDITIONING

Another form of soil treatment closely related to Soil Stabilization is Soil Conditioning (sometimes referred to as “mud drying”). Although some stabilization inherently occurs in Soil Modification, the distinction between the two is that Soil Modification is merely a means to reduce the moisture content of a soil to expedite construction.  The determining factors associated with Soil Modification versus Soil Stabilization includes the existing moisture content, the end use of the soil structure, and ultimately the cost benefits provided.

Joe's Dozer Service has the knowledge and experience required to help determine the best soil treatment for a project considering all the above factors.
